Las Vegas pastor launching new church on Easter as planned despite Nevada social distancing orders

A Las Vegas pastor has been counting down the launch of his congregation with an Easter Sunday 2020 worship date for the past six months.

Pastor Joseph Guy told KTNV that the right to go to church is written into the U.S. Constitution.

He also said it's no more riskier than going to a store to buy supplies.

"I'm not asking anybody to do anything different than they're already doing. Latest Las Vegas News We all go to Walmart... We're not stopping that," he told the TV station.

Guy said he is taking precautions at Open Arms Community Church by following social distancing guidelines.


They're offering face masks and hand sanitizer for the 35 or so people allowed inside. They're also streaming services online and providing a drive-in option, Press Release Distribution Service connecting radios to audio of the service with a big screen to watch outside of the church.

"I believe a pastor should follow God instead of the government as long as it's not harming society," he said. "And I don't feel like what we're doing is harming society."
