Las Vegas Sands to pay emergency wages for staff of 14 third-party restaurants

 The Las Vegas Sands company, the owner of The Venetian Resort on the Las Vegas Strip, says that it is implementing a new program to cover the emergency pay for the employees of several third-party restaurants on its property.

This program would cover the roughly 1,200 employees of 14 third-party restaurants during the coronavirus shutdown.

This comes just days after the company announced it Las Vegas News would continue paying its employees during the closure, with CEO Sheldon Addleson writing an op-ed in the New York Post saying other companies should do the same.

“We partner with several renowned restaurant companies to bring our world-class dining experience to The Venetian Resort,” said Rob Goldstein, president, and COO of Las Vegas Sands.

With the new program, Sands will be paying roughly 11,200 employees through the COVID-19 closures.

The 14 restaurants whose employee payroll will be covered are as follows:

CUT by Wolfgang Puck
Go Greek
Lagasse’s Stadium
Matteo’s Ristorante Italiano
Majordomo Meat & Fish
Moon Palace
Mott 32
sixth+mill ristorante pizzeria and bar
Solaro by Wolfgang Puck
Spritz Poolside Restaurant
Yardbird Southern Table & Bar
These restaurants include those of some of the most well-known chefs in the world including Wolfgang Puck, David Chang, Thomas Keller, Emeril Lagasse and Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro.
